i just can’t get over how they describe him as a sandworm.

Damn, it has the subtly of a bowling ball to the face in terms of concretely taking an anti-fascist stance, but it's anarchic philosophy and mixed elements of psychological thriller, neo-noir and political drama just make this a fantastic read!!
My biggest gripe is the discussions of sex, gender and sexuality - and I can't really tell if it's a stilted portrayal or a progressive take on the rampant homophobia and cisheteronormativity prevalent in these kinda of fascists regimes, but I know that the views on page by literally bad guys are not those of Herbert! Though...I just didn't expect Duncan Idaho to be a confirmed violent homophobe....

Amazing, probably my favorite Dune book so far

Good book. This was my second attempt. I had completed Children of Dune and the style and pacing of this book was quite different from the first three. I had a hard time at that point. But some time away from the book and the story helped. I enjoyed it and I believe that this sets up quite a different set of books set in the same universe. I'll start those soon.

Immensely slow burn of a book. 75% of it is philosophical ideas. Went way over my head but it’s very good

Very intense worldview presented in this book. Certainly a step up in terms of philosophical bend from Herbert's previous entries, and, while this may be an unpopular opinion, I do believe that this caused the book to take just the slightest step back from the first trilogy.

Another good book in the series. The way he drip feeds you information about the Bene Gesserit, Teliaxu, and Ixians is just tantalising. Looking forward to more!
