Alfred Smettle is the owner of the Hitchcock Hotel, a themed hotel after the many movies of the famous director. It’s been fifteen years since he’s seen his former college friends, the group were very close in college, and were in the Film Club , the last year of college we soon uncover something big happened and it ended up with everyone going their separate ways. Alfred has now invited them to his hotel for a long weekend. He has a secret motive for this reunion. He’s let his staff have the weekend off except for his trusted housekeeper. You see Alfred isn’t one to forgive or forget. We soon realize that this weekend will end as any Hickcock film does, with a dead body and a who done it! This was a locked room mystery and everyone had secrets they didn’t want to uncover. This was a fun read and a good Halloween story!

No Hitchcock trivia needed to read this one! But, you will learn some! This book was so addicting and I was totally sucked in from the start! I love a drama filled mystery and this one delivered all the goods! Each of the characters were so different with so many frickin secrets! I loved it! What a perfect creepy and spooky book for fall/spooky season!

“If you had to commit the perfect murder, how would you do it?"

It takes a (retired) pretentious Hitchcock snob to know one! The book paid enough homage to the Master of Suspense without coming off too hokey, and the parts that slipped over the edge were seemingly by design. But, references abound for Hitch fans! Atmosphere was really key here: author put a lot of emphasis on set design and it showed, definitely a book you can “see”. Plot was engaging, pace was appropriate, and the twists were great!

Didn’t vibe with the characters aside from one or two. The relationships of these friends are the backbone of the book and it didn’t read as believable at times. Read like a CW show: entertaining but sort of shallow.

3.5-4/5 This could have and should have been a lot gayer. You’re tellin’ me six friends from college get back together after nearly two decades apart and not one was even a little gay? Phooey!

Meh.

I had a hard time keeping the characters straight. I couldn't remember which one had done what and how they were connected to Alfred in the past. The story was okay and I liked the ending, but overall it was just okay.
