متاسفانه (یا خوشبختانه) من بنده‌ی پایان‌های جذابم و این کتاب هم به خاطر پایانی که خیلی دوسش داشتم، ضعفهاش بخشیده میشه.
روایت و داستان خیلی جذابه و اتفاقات دور از انتظار جالبی داره اما گاهی چند صفحه‌ای از کتاب بی‌هدف و اضافه به نظر میاد که خب برای کتاب دویست صفحه‌ای همچین تجربه‌ای داشتن یکم عجیبه. اما فکر می‌کنم برای بقیه هم مثل من، پایان داستان و گره‌گشایی‌هاش بتونه کتاب رو تجربه لذت‌بخشی بکنه.

This is a really thought provoking, complex short book about the nature of war. How war affects civilians and how violence is internalized over a lifetime. The book begins in Holland at the very end of World War II. There are a lot of mediocre books written about WW2, I did not find this to be one of them.

It’s extremely well written, the plot seems simple but has more turns than one would expect.

I’d recommend it if you enjoy fiction with a philosophical bent.

heel interessante manier om de oorlog te benaderen. beginnend aan het boek dacht ik "ik houd niet van woii-boeken wat ben ik aan het doen" maar toen bleek dit een meesterlijk geschreven boek en bleek dit boek de oorlog vooral te bekijken vanuit zijn nawerkingen. ik dacht nog, bij de opmerking dat de oorlog pas klaar was wanneer men weer adolf mocht heten, dat dat echt een heel cool concept was en dat mulisch daar een boek over had moeten schrijven maar dat was ook gewoon wat ik al in mijn handen had.
