I’m a huge  fan of the original Anne of Green Gables, so I was so excited to see this on he shelf of my library. If you are in it for the original/ nostalgia read, all of the characters return, albeit modernized, with some new additions as well.
The beginning was fairly strong, although his nickname was not my favorite, but I really disliked their conflict. Anne went through something that was incredibly difficult, and then Gilbert made it all about himself

just a published shirbert college au fanfic tbh. first half was better. would’ve enjoyed more slowburn and less of gilbert being an ass over things he had no business being an ass over. also WHY did we shorted gilbert’s name to gil? all i could think of was the monster high character.

A fun little read with characters you already know and love. A modern take that fits Anne. I only wish the story continued a little longer (give me the details girl!)

I love the original story of anne and gilbert’s life together, but I thought I would give this take on their story a chance. This modern fan-fiction for them made sense in some parts and was so unserious overall, but in an entertaining way. I didn’t hate it and if you go into it with an open mind and looking for a very light read I would recommend this one if the story even slightly interests you.

A modern interpretation of Anne and Gilbert’s love story. Cute, lighthearted, fluffy and forgettable.

i enjoyed this, especially as a light read and i love anything anne of green gables related. however, i do think this book has to be read only by people who have read the original as the characters are not fleshed out at all and feel very 2D. the pacing was off too and that hindered my rating too.

overall it was a nice fun remake to read and it did bring up important subjects, however, i think it lacked anything truly original hence the middle score. good fun though.
