This was super cute. Good read and a good audiobook. May have made me cry.
I really wanted to like this book, but the start was too slow for me. There also were a lot of references to Ireland that I didn't get. I didn't like the ending and wish this book wasn't marketed as romance because of this. Also, the cover art doesn't match the characters. Ruby is plus-sized and the girl on the cover is not.

Strong 4.5 stars, with all the feels.
This is sweet, and sad, and sometimes a little angsty. It's real and it's sometimes rose colored, and then real again. It fulfills the promise of the falling in love montage from a rom-com, while also being messy and giving our main character some significant flaws and blindspots. Plus, it's a queer romance that isn't about coming out, or being kicked out, or having some life-or-death trauma. Just regular, everyday queerness and regular everyday trauma of living.

Big love that this book was a lesbian love story that wasn’t founded in homophobia and didn’t end in tragedy. It was cute!
That said, I think the maturity of the characters (this is a YA book, after all) kept me from getting invested. I’m not a fan of miscommunication as the central conflict of a love story, especially when that lying and lack of communication feels somewhat unnecessary. The end felt somewhat rushed with a lot of random plot points thrown in. I finished the book feeling kind of frustrated with the characters and ultimate resolution.

I wasn't expecting this book to be so sad. I won't go into specific details but it was quite upsetting at times. I do enjoy emotional books but as I wasn't expecting it I found it a little jarring. I think I enjoyed the ending, it wasn't what I was expecting.
I liked the main character but also really didn't agree with or understand her choices sometimes (which isn't a bad thing). I found Ruby's character a little disappointing and felt that i didn't really know anything about her. It seemed to me that Saoirse's ex featured more and I learned more about her.
It's very rare that I read a WLW book and the characters are lesbians so I enjoyed that a lot.
I think I will enjoy this book more on a re read now that I know what to expect
