good story of love found again. some missteps kept me from awarding another star. probably a 2.5

I thought it was a really cute idea and I started out loving the book! But then it started focusing on Terrys (the sister) relationship problems more than joe and keris. And once Joe said the thing about wishing he got Keri pregnant so she would have just stayed with him really bothered me. also these people all had problems with saying I miss you but were perfectly fine with hooking up in front of his entire family...and also letting his family think they were a couple. the entire book I could not come up with a good compromise in my heqd and I feel like im not satisfied with the ending the author wrote. the entire book keri says she moved away to make her own life for herself to prevent being known as Joes girl but is so excited to be thought of as that in the end. it was kind of cute actually but its unfair that Keri has given up some of her dreams and career to be with Joe and he didn't give up much to be with her. (but on the plus side he seriously considered moving to LA for her)

Nicely enjoyable, fairly standard plot romcom, that I think I picked up somewhere for free a while ago.
High school sweethearts go different ways to college to pursue dreams. 20 years on, her high flying magazine journalist job depends on interviewing him, now a reclusive author.
She is 'persuaded' to join his annual family holiday (quad biking and camping) - with terms! - to get her answers. Cue lots of opportunities for manipulating situations til the inevitable - but enjoyable journey - to the end.
First in a series, and I'm sure lots of fun to come with the Kowalski's.

Joe didn't have any intention of seeing Keri beyond that first meeting but within five minutes knew he needed more time with her. His crazy plan wasn't well thought out but he pulled out all the stops. Keri chose her career over Joe years ago, determined to make a name for herself, and now she had to stay committed to because she didn't just break Joe's heart but her own, too.

This first story in the series was full of laugh out loud moments as this is a big, boisterous family who enjoys being with each other. They go along with Joe's plan, except his twin sister,Terry, who hasn't forgiven Keri, who was also once her friend. Keri's life may seem glamorous now but she hasn't formed any lasting relationships that even come close to what she gave up when she left for Los Angeles.

There's also a serious side as Terry's marriage is on the rocks and their brother Mike and his wife are experiencing some stress. These issues blended well in the background of Joe and Keri's romance, sometimes being a factor in Joe's plan.

What we ended up with is a great story, a bittersweet romance and lots of funny moments as Joe and Keri try to find a way to reconnect in the woods of New Hampshire with the entire Kowalski clan. I loved the family dynamics as well as these outgoing and attractive Kowalski men. I'm already hooked to the series.

I love the New Hampshire setting and the focus on family. Cute story of a famous writer and a tabloid journalist getting a second chance.

Thanks to Jennifer (the book nympho)for recommending this series.

Having now read the first three books in the series I would recommend these books for readers who like contemporary romances, full of large interfering families.

So, Joe is a famous author, Keri is a journalist working for a gossip magazine in LA. Twenty years ago they were a couple in High School but Keri realised they had very different ideas about the future so she left town and never looked back. When Keri's boss finds out that she knows the reclusive author she issues an ultimatum - get an interview or get another job.

When Joe and Keri meet for dinner they are both surprised at the chemistry between them - as a joke Joe says he will only grant an interview IF Keri accompanies him on the Kowalski family camping trip. With her job on the line Keri is forced to accept.

Others have complained about the formulaic big City girl roughing it camping and I agree it was a bit heavy-handed. And I agree Joe's twin sister Terry was over-done. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story and the Kowalski family are great characters.

Keri Daniels needed an indepth interview with reclusive writer Joe Kowalski, a man who didn't care for the woman who held Keri's career in her psycho little hands. Complicating matters was the fact that Keri and Joe had been high school sweethearts, until Keri dumped him for a life in California. Joe agrees to the interview if Keri will spend two weeks camping with the Kowalski clan, participating in whatever activities they organize. More trouble is found when Keri's former best friend Terry hears the woman who almost destroyed her brother is joining them. She vows to make Keri pay.

I'm beginning to think that I didn't give the Kowlaski clan a chance. I mostly liked the first book, but I loved this one. The additional issues between the other married Kowalskis added an interesting level to the romance between Joe and Keri. Stacey did a marvelous job of defining each character, and giving us children of various ages who were realistic. I'm not usually a fan of children in romances because they are rarely real children. I not only loved the various nephews and niece, but would like to see more of them in the future.

Nice story but I kept wondering why she still hadn't met her career goal and it had been 20 years and she'd be making it at that magazine. Not worth it to me.

This was the 1st book I've read by Shannon Stacey - but it won't be my last! Loved the Kowalski family unit and the emotions that go along with that. Keri and Joe are fantastic characters and watching them figure out their paths was fun. A great read!

*4.5/5*
