3.5 Quick read that was mindless and had every expected plot point. Exactly what I needed. Quality writing? No. Strong character development? Nope. Cliche story fully of sappy romance drama? YUP!

The only thing that bothered me is I got confused at times with what was going on. Sometimes it was too fast-paced, and other times it dragged. I did get frustrated with Keri and Joe.
I wish Keri, would've realized that Joe was in love with her and he would do anything to make her happy.
I give this book 3.5 moons, but I wish I could give it 3.75 moons.
I will be reading the next book in the series soon. =)
I recommend this book to contemporary romance lovers, readers who love drama, and a little humor.

( 3 to 3.5 stars for Joe and Keri - but I loved the family - especially kids and Kevin, so I'll be generous.)
I went back and forth on this one. Parts were great - anyone who's been on a family camping trip will definitely relate to parts of this book, and anyone who's been "invited" to go on a family camping trip that isn't their family (and especially those whose family wouldn't dream of taking a camping trip, ever) will relate too. The Kowalski family is a riot. There was a six-page teaser to book two - Kevin's story - at the end that bumped it up my "to read" list fast.
Parts I wasn't so crazy about: first, Keri just didn't "do" it for me. I guess I got her reasons for leaving in the first place, but I didn't really see her change in the end; it felt more like a cave in on her part...one I hope will last, but I'm not convinced of that by her actions and lack of personal growth. Second, the language bothered me a bit, both spoken and internal. Way too much casual profanity for my taste, and I (if any of my students are reading this, stop now. Mrs. Moe never uses this language and you shouldn't either - for a good 10-20 years) am normally not adverse to a bit of language. There was just way too much and much of it seemed wholly unnecessary. Third, Joe was way too (seriously, anyone who calls me Mrs. Moe regularly needs to stop reading RIGHT NOW) ahem, excited - throughout most of the book. Honestly, he needed to be doused with ice cold water. Every other page, at least. Fourth - Terry, sucky personal life or no, was way too witchy throughout most of the book. She needed a good slap. Or several. Maybe a hundred.
In the end, I did enjoy the book - more for the family than for the main characters, sadly; but it will definitely have me coming back for book two.

Recomend to: Contemporary romance readers who don't want to think to hard
It was a sweet story of second chances times 3. Joe and Keri get a second chance as well as Joes sister and her husband. Evan walked out three months ago. And Joes brother mike and lisa who are dancing around a major catastrophe of miscommunication.
lesson learned: don't assume others know what you are feeling after 10 years of marriage. Its still nice to hear "I love you"

I may be biased bc I'm not a fan of going back to exes stories, but...no.
Really charming, solid contemporary romance. The whole Kowalski clan is well drawn, they are all interesting characters in their own right but they also serve to highlight the past of Keri & Joe and some of the obstacles they need to overcome. Keri is a sympathetic heroine and the only thing keeping this from 5*s for me is the fact that I thought her career vs. love conflict was kind of glossed over in the end. Joe and his brothers are some of the most realistic "guys" I've read in a romance. And that's not a bad thing here. They aren't total alpha control freaks, or the other extreme of guys talking about their feelings all the time. In their interactions together and with the women in their lives they just felt like guys I know. I hate to use the word again but the whole family and the romance between Joe & Keri is just charming. I felt like I smiled while reading this the whole way through. Perfect summer reading or if you need a "pick me up" type book.

This was another of those books that had my family reminding me that it was just fiction. A solidly built romance with generally appealing characters and emotional tugs. I read the 2nd in this series last year and liked it even more, and am going to have to check out the rest now.
I laughed, I cried and I loved the voices she gave the male characters. The things they said sounded like actual guy talk. I've read some contemporary romances during the male pov where the guy will notice the brand of shoes the woman is wearing or some specific fashion choice. I just laugh because no uber masculine character should ever notice that stuff.
