If you just want some silly, mindless fun without any particularly high stakes - this could be worth a shot.
It reads a bit kiddish, I wasn't really sure who the intended audience was, but I can imagine 13 year old boys enjoy it and there's nothing that would make it inappropriate for them. We do also get a dual timeline, one of which follows Benny and a couple of friends having a bit of a crazy adventure in boarding school, which kids would likely get some fun from reading.
The breaking the fourth wall sections grated on me a bit, but I personally don't like them in general.
Overall, a fun, fast read, but if you're expecting a thriller/ horror/ adult novel, you might be a bit disappointed.

I was disappointed with this novel, I do find Dean Koontz a bit hit and miss, he can be over flowery in his language at times but he has good storylines. The characters were too binary, the main character too sugary nice and the bad guys all nasty with no redeeming traits. Also, the plot was a little confusing and hard to believe.

Not sure had to tie this up except, WOW!
What an incredible read!
The beginning introduced so many characters it was hard to keep track of, but eventually, the main characters took over and it was an absolute thrill to read!
• Exceptionally witty banter
• Incredible and unique characters
• Unexpected HEA
• Thrilling journey
• Found family
• Aliens meant to protect
• Cold/Heartless family & caregivers
• Unexpectedly sweet romance

Possibly Joints best work
The Bad Weather Friend is Santa's Twin for grown ups, set in the lens of an adult's life instead of children on Christmas Eve. There is a perfect blend of monsters, both human and otherwise; atmosphere; anticipation; action; violence and gore all tempered by the lesson that being nice is worthwhile. An absolutely fun read.
