Another winner from Dean Koontz!  I loved the story and the characters and would love to read more about the adventures of Benny, Harper, and Spike.  I want my own craggle.

DID NOT FINISH: 67%

I have read other Koontz books and enjoyed them. I was prepared for some oddity, but this ended up being more silly than odd in my opinion. Had some funny one liners but just not for me.

This book may have stood a chance,  but it wasn't taken.  The ending was just a summary of what might have happened. It's like the writer just got tired of writing it. Would not recommend wasting time on this.

The About the Author section says that Rolling Stone called Koontz "America's most popular suspense novelist." But there is almost no suspense to be found in this book. It's a cute little story about a guy who doesn't seem like he's in the slightest bit of danger once he meets his unstoppable sidekick. There are some funny moments, but Koontz goes back to the same well of jokes a few too many times. The flashback scenes felt like filler with little connection to the main plot. It's not a horrible book. Just unremarkable. Koontz has written much better books than this one.

Decent read.  Reminded me of the fantasy book that I read where after the nuclear bomb people had powers.  The dueling storylines were good, but unfulfilled.  Will they ever open the portal the headmistress tried opening?  Did the shadowy organization come for Benny again?
