Okay, so here's the deal...I didn't really finish this book. I read 200 pages and had no idea what the book was about or who the main character was (seriously, too many characters too fast). Now maybe I was just distracted or something but I just didn't get it. My friend read it and really liked it.

One of the best books I've read this year. Such a great and original concept. Can't wait to read #2!

2023 re-read:
2 1/2 stars

I was looking back and saw that I had read this book in 2011. I called it one of my favorite books of the year.

But I couldn’t remember a thing about it.

I have a terrible memory. I already know this. And sometimes, I think that’s why I go in waves with reading - because I just don’t retain what I have read.

I went into this book thinking it would come back to me, but it never did. And my tastes must have changed since 2011, because I didn’t love this book this time around. It was ok, but I found myself getting anxious for it to be over so I could start something new.

This was a super clean YA read with Maze Runner vibes to it. It did take me a few chapters to feel like I actually knew what was going on, though.

There is a second book (that I also don’t remember) that I’ll probably listen to, just because I don’t like to leave a series unread.

I really enjoyed this, the funky mix of technology and "protocol". Looking forward to sapphique.

Listened to this with my husband, Bobby, on our road trip to Washington and back. I fell asleep in a few parts, so I missed some detail to the story.

I felt that the story may have dragged about figuring out where Incarceron was, but it was a fantastic concept and made our drive so much more interesting! Loved the fantasy elements, and really enjoyed the audio book. The reader was very entertaining.

Solid 3 stars. There were some twists I saw coming and some I didn't. Decent dystopia. I'll put the sequel on my to-read, but I don't know if I actually will get to it.
