Sarah Dessen, señoras y señores. Sarah Dessen.

Not one of SD's best, but still.. SD at her worst is better than most comparable authors at their best. Yes, the story is predictable, but there are also moments of truth and tenderness. A great read for the beach, bathtub, or when you need a little happy ending. The characters were for the most part realistic and had complexity. PLUS I adore how SD gives little nods to her former characters and stories in all of her novels. I found a little easter egg for 'just listen' in this one!

Not her best but still amazing!

This book was just a make-you-feel-good book and it did it's job perfectly! <3

I love Sarah Dessen and I reread my favorites every year. I did not love What Happened to Goodbye. It wasn't terrible, but it was very slow for me. I could relate to the characters but I didn't feel like there was any growth. This didn't have the usual charm that Dessen had within her stories. I couldn't enjoy it and at the end I just felt it was okay. 😐

the absolute comfort that is sarah dessen
(heidi!!!)

What Happened to Goodbye is definitely one of Sarah Dessen's best books. Usually her books follow the same format, girl has a problem, finds a boy who helps her with her problem, problem is fixed. This was totally different; there was hardly any romance and when there was, it was subtle. I liked the fact that McClean fixed her problems on her own, with her insightful views and the help of her family. If you've read Sarah Dessen and haven't liked her, read this one and give her a second chance, I'm sure she'll surprise you.

This book was cute and amazing! It reminded me of a Nicholas Sparks books but without the sad endings. I related to this book a lot. Made me cry a couple of times too. But most of all it really made me laugh. I think I found a new author a love! This book was really great!

Fell in love with it. Mclean's story is unexpectedly suprising and inspirational. A must read for everyone searching for answers about themselves, and life.

So it's only 3 stars because, I didn't like too much): Don't get me wrong I'm a very huge Sarah Dessen fan. This book was mostly about finding yourself. But the description was about falling in love and all that. Surer there was some love, but not that much. It was still good, just not my favorite.
