I listened to the audiobook. This is the second book in a series, I think there is a third coming out but not available to me. Something about the characters, either the stilted dialog or the narrator's voice was a little grating, but the storyline was interesting, so I made it onto the sequel. If you're looking for some chick lit that you could read/listen to with your children around, this would work ... it's really a romance, but it's very chaste.
The House at Saltwater Point combines suspense and romance for an absolute winner -- and not just because it takes place a couple hours from me, on the Olympic Peninsula.:) Coble did a great job at drawing me in immediately, as well as keeping me guessing throughout the book! I truly didn't see the twists and turns coming.
This is the second book in the series, and it could be read stand-alone but would give away a few points from Book 1. So bear that in mind when you pick one to read.
Coble does a great job at setting up a sense of place. I felt like I was right there with the characters; I could smell the salt air (or was that from my open window?) and see the ferries in my mind's eye.
I often waffle when it comes to re-reading mysteries (will they hold up when I know what happens?), but Saltwater Point could easily be re-read without losing anything. I do hope Coble writes more in the series.
I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This is signature Colleen Coble Christian romantic mystery novel, the second volume in the Lavender Tides series.
House renovator Ellie is shocked to find her younger sister missing. Coast Guard intelligence officer Grayson finds it hard to accept that he is - adopted.
These two nice people challenged by life need to cooperate to fight international terrorists and the depth of their own pain, too.
Even if there are drugs, gangsters and violence present, I would still call this a cozy mystery - in the sense that you never need to be scaried for the characters. They are in safe hands with Colleen Coble! I maybe wish for more thrill, but at least the psychological conflicts are real (even if the heroes are very mature and they are taking their suffering in stride).

Ellie Blackmore is doing exactly what she loves- house flipping. Her life, however, gets turned upside down when her sister disappears and everything points to a stolen cocaine shipment and an international plot. When the Coast Guard gets involved everyone wants the truth. The truth, however, may not be what everyone wants to hear.
This was a pretty good story, the characters were easy to connect with and the plot flowed nicely. I always like learning new things and this time it was about boats. I love how novels can be filled with information without sounding like a teaching lesson.
*I received this book free from Thomas Nelson and The Fiction Guild in exchange for my honest review. What I have expressed are entirely my own thoughts. Also, I was not compensated in any monetary way.*

This book kept me interested from page 1. The story has a good balance of mystery and romance. There were a few questionable statements in the dialog between several characters, but it was overall an interesting book. I enjoyed reading it.
