3.5/5, 7/10 ??

overall very much enjoyed reading this AND the characters, fun plot with the authors storyline (which can be hit or miss), and i thought the handling of grief etc and trying to be optimistic in life was actually really beautiful and it's special seeing that written down. i love seeing the beauty of life and how lucky we are to be here articulated because we truly ARE so lucky to be able to love and live in this world together!
also loved the friendship portrayal and how grateful january and shadi are for each other!!! platonic love is incredible!!!
obviously i didn't like the dad cheating plot, but i must say i respect that the "big reveal" of like sonya explaining wasn't like "oh lol no he wasn't actually!" like sticking to your guns and letting people kind of accept you for your mistakes and make your own memories, both the ugly and beautiful, is kind of interesting.
also i find it funny because the title put me off i was like ughh like tropical setting might be kind of too much for me but they're BARELY at the beach like titles are so irrelevant help i'm goofy for that

thank u library of kate horny for allowing me to borrow 🙏🏖
