I didn’t want this to end, she’s such a great storyteller. I felt so connected to Natsu that the ending made me feel like I was there with her, experiencing the beginning of her new life.

The only problem is the —at times— awkward translation, which I wish was truer to the original Japanese way of speaking instead of tweaking the script for an American audience.

Strange and uncomfortable at times, but so real. Human thoughts and feelings, even the most unspoken and disgusting, laid bare in beautiful prose. Beautiful commentary on human psyche, on what it means to be a woman, to have a body, to exist.

I love this novel, not in a way where you kick your feet or laugh out loud or cry uncontrollably for the heartbreaks. This novel is more like watching a life while reading it and living it. I love this so much, I wish I could read this novel for the first time again. Or maybe I can read this again after a decade and it will make me love it again in a different way. I will get to feel the story too in a different way.

I love the writing in this book and I just love the world and all the perspectives that this book has shown me. Just so wonderful.. I cried,laughed and contemplated. I have more to say!
