Disfrute mucho de estas historias cortas, le dan contexto y mayor profundidad a los escenarios del comienzo de la película.
Me encantó la historia de Poe. Uno nunca puede tener suficiente de Poe Dameron.

We should all know by now that Greg Rucka is a master storyteller. I was familiar with his work in comic books, but this is my first time reading him like this, in full-text. It was a pretty good introduction, I must say. Before the Awakening is a short tie-in book that presents us to three introductory short stories about the main characters of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the seventh Star Wars film. Rucka manages to use stories that are nothing but introductions, really, to make us sympathize and relate to the characters, even the ones we don't really know beforehand—Devi and Strunk, for example, or even the now infamous stormtrooper FN-2199/Nines. I wouldn't call it a "classic" Star Wars book, but I recommend it if you like the series and/or if you want more information about Finn, Rey, and Poe.
Greg Rucka is good, you can trust him with your faves (his Wonder Woman comics are a real chef’s kiss.) The writing was genuinely good to the point where giving it three stars feels like a lowball, but all things considered I care more about what happens to these three after TFA and together rather than before it and apart, so my engagement level was about a three. I thought I would care most about Rey’s story (and it is good, and heartbreaking) but Poe’s was the best one because it was partially about him meeting his new mom General Organa, and if the whole book had been that I think it would have been a 4 or 5 star experience. I feel like most tie-in novels are garbage trash but I can genuinely recommend this one.
I liked this one a lot better than the Force Awakens novel. Much better writing and it gave quite a bit of backstory on Finn, Rey and Poe. Check it out if you're itching to find out more about them, plus it's the first EU book to come out of the new series that's being considered "official" by Disney.
Fun collection of pre-TFA short stories about Finn, Rey, and Poe. The stories give some nice insight to the characters and all lead directly to TFA.
Interesting little nugget, the Poe story mentions the Corporate Sector, so maybe that's a sly way of saying the original Han Solo novels are canon? ;)

Finn gets a 3, Rey a 4, Poe a 5.
I read someone else's review that pointed out Finn's story was trying a little too hard, and I agree but it was still a pretty good read. Some nice thematics to it. Rey's was sad, but a little slow, but I felt for her regardless. Poe's is a fun adventure that sets up the start of the movie nicely!

2.75 stars.
Follows Finn, Rey, and Poe before the seventh installment - The Force Awakens.

Leia only appeared in the last 20-or-so pages and I missed her so much...
Lotsa hug for the trio...

I did not think I would like this very much, but it definitely had some good parts. I really liked the Poe section.
I love a good backstory and these were no exception.
