Dit verhaal is gewoon goed! Het maakt je aan het lachen, het maakt je soms verdrietig en je wil zo graag een goede afloop voor Hannah en Sam! Vanaf het moment dat ik gelezen had waar dit boek over ging wist ik zeker dat ik het wilde lezen.
Het is een heerlijk boek om op het strand of aan het zwembad te lezen, maar wees gewaarschuwd: Je gaat zeker hardop lachen! De siuaties in dit boek zijn soms herkenbaar, maar sommige situaties gelukkig niet haha.
De personages uit dit boek zijn wel herkenbaar, de groepjes, het afscheid dat er aan zit te komen. Ik heb het zelf ook allemaal mee gemaakt toen ik zelf de middelbare school verliet.
Om dit verhaal leuk te vinden, moet je ook de personages leuk vinden. Het verhaal draait uiteindelijk vooral om hen en het is geen groots verhaal met spannende gebeurtenissen.
De hoofdpersonages Sam en Hannah vertellen hun verhaal en jij krijgt een kijkje in hun leven. Wat ze allemaal meemaken en hoe ze over dingen denken. Omdat je het verhaal vanuit beide personages leest zorgt dit ook voor meer diepgang. Je leest niet één kant van het verhaal, maar beide kanten. Ik denk dat vele van ons zich wel kunnen verplaatsen in ofwel Sam, ofwel Hannah.
Ook de andere personages voelen echt aan, ondanks dat je minder over hen te weten komt dan over Hannah en Sam zij zijn wel belangrijk voor het verloop van het verhaal. Ze spelen ieder een belangrijke rol en dat is echt goed uitgewerkt. Ik heb nergens gedacht: Nou dit personage was echt niet nodig in het verhaal.
De schrijfstijl is heerlijk, het is door twee personen geschreven maar daar merk je eigenlijk helemaal niks van. Al vanaf de eerste pagina zat ik in het verhaal en voor ik het wist was het boek al bijna uit. Ik heb zelden zoveel gelachen als bij dit boek.
Dat is ook wel het mooie van dit boek, de humor. Heerlijk hoe alles ook de platte woorden gewoon vertaald zijn. Geen nette woorden maar gewoon zoals jongeren het ook zeggen. Dat maakt dit boek voor mij wel uniek. Meestal wordt er toch een beetje om dit onderwerp heen gedraaid maar hier duidelijk niet.
Als je nog een leuk boek zoekt voor de vakantie, lekker aan het zwembad/op het strand met een boek dat je een goed gevoel geeft? Dan is dit echt je boek! Lees het , ervaar het en laat je meevoeren met dit extreem awkward liefdesverhaal!

I gave this one a 3.4 out of four stars because I couldn’t relate to this book at all the characters were annoying and the whole plot of this book was based on teens wanting or having sex I kinda was hoping for a cute romance young adult but this one wasn’t what it seems I couldn’t stand Stella or Hannah the only I sort of liked was Tilly apart from her I couldn’t stand the boys either especially Sam I was quite disappointed because I wanted to love it but can’t I DNF at page 116 because this book is just awful I’m sorry to those who loved it but this one wasn’t for me at all!
Ya hacen meses desde que leí este libro, y es como si se hubiese borrado casi por completo de mi memoria. En su momento me pareció gracioso, no es tan romántico y bonito como me gustaría pero, es divertido, cómico y bastante awkward indeed. El problema es ese, que no es memorable. Lo que más me llamó la atención es que está escrito por un par de autores que fueron pareja, te hace cuestionarte si alguna anécdota se habrá escapado por allí un poco adaptada para los personajes. No sé, se me hace bastante curioso e interesante. Es la clase de cosas que me interesan a mí porque soy una chismosa y no directamente por el libro, pero bueno, se me hacía necesario mencionarlo.
No estoy muy segura de que sea exactamente mi tipo de humor, pero me sacó risitas en más de una ocasión así que está medio aprobado en ese ámbito. Lo de Toilet Boy Cinderella fue bastante gracioso y hubo un chiste con What Makes You Beautiful que honestamente fue lo mejor que me pasó en todo este viaje: "You're insecure/Don't know what for/Right now I'm writing 'Toilet Boy' on the do-or-or...". ¿A que lo leyeron cantando?
Las amistades no me gustaron, (te estoy viendo Stella). No todas al menos, y eso le baja muchos puntos. Además, eran problemas de mal entendidos por falta de comunicación constante y eso como que me desesperaba un poco.
Esta frase me atacó porque I'm in this and I don't like it.
"I think only loving someone because they love you is selfish," I went on. "It's spineless. It's like only admitting you want someone once you know they want you".
Lo siento sí, perdón por ser selfish y spineless xD. Además, esta parte que pondré abajo, me representa:
"Half the problem is that I do the same thing with boys that I do with clothes: I imagine an outfit before I go shopping rather than just waiting to see what's in the store when I get there. I daydream scenarios that will never happen. I think about boys falling in love with me who in real life wouldn't look at me. And it's not even me in the daydream, it's this sort of celebrity version of me, all glossy and poised and sexy. I imagine being invited to parties where events play out perfectly. How I'll meet the love of my life and he'll be inexplicably drawn to me and say things like, 'I would die for you, Hannah'."
Pero realmente esas son las únicas partes que valieron la pena resaltar para mí. Eso, y el hecho de que Hannah no usara Facebook porque same, pero fuera de eso todo muy meh.

Easy to read. I liked it more than I expected to, but the few things that I didn’t like enough to give this 5 stars was probably the way it ended. Don’t get me wrong, it was okay. But I’d love to see a little more between them at the end, it felt a bit rushed when they finally got together at the end. I feel like I waited a long time to see that they finally got together, but then to not get enough closure.
Like, I wanted to see how the relationship were between them at the end, after all the drama and all the waiting. But other than that, I found this book to be quite interesting, funny and cute. Not similar to anything I’ve read so far.

This book was slow in a lot of places and rushed in others. I think the obsession with sex in this book is pretty spot on for teenagers but it was a little too much. Girls were trashed on a lot during this book but the guys were just as dense. Well, the main characters were all dense. However, it was still a funny and interesting read. I’ll try these authors again.

So the beginning was a bit boring and typical teenager-like which I rolled my eyes at. However, once Sam and Hannah met, it was a whole other book! I really loved the back and forth between Sam and Hannah and the awkward situations that kept them apart. Definitely for older teens with the content but worth the read.
On a random Friday afternoon in work everyone had gone home. I had completed all my tasks for the day. I work in a school and I was literally one of the last in the building but I had to wait for the clock to strike 4pm before I was allowed to leave. With about 8 minutes left of my shift I grabbed a book from the counter in the library (where I happened to be based). I picked up Lobsters by Lucy Ivison and Tom Ellen; I chose this book because I knew I had it on my kindle but hadn’t read it so if I enjoyed it during those 8 minutes then I could carry on reading it that weekend. Oh my days. From page one of Lobsters I was invested in the lives of Sam and Hannah and their group of friends.
Lobsters is a story that we all (those of us over a certain age) are familiar with; those scary steps that we take to reach adulthood. That is what the characters in Lobsters are facing. They are all at that awkward age where they are finishing college/sixth form, they aren’t children anymore but they aren’t quite adults either and they are trying to find their feet. The main goal for the characters in Lobsters seems to be to lose their ‘V Card’. This is made apparent from the first page so if you are a blushing wallflower and thinking about reading Lobsters then you may want to have a rethink.
Essentially though, Lobsters is about relationships; relationships with family members, the opposite sex and mostly the ones with your friends. It is about how relationships with your friends can be toxic but you still love each other, it is about how relationships in bloom can grow into something special but equally how they can be extremely fragile. Most of all it is about growing up.
If I had to describe Lobsters in any way it would have to be The Inbetweeners meet Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by way of Mean Girls, American Pie and Can’t Hardly Wait with a dash of Skins on top. Yes, Lobsters is, without a doubt, the coming of age story for the 21st century teen.

I found this book a very easy read and very enjoyable. It was light hearted and sweet and had funny moments without going over the the top. I also liked it as it is more relateable than most romance books and I found it interesting how it was written by 2 authors.
