At first the book is very slow paced, but the story picked up later on. It is hard to guess were the story is going and what the main character is up to. This book is not great, but entertaining.

I like a good mystery and this one delivers. If you're looking for an easy-to-read, page turner, pick this one up.

I've read Grisham in the past and have always been a fan, but this had me scratching my head. It felt like three different stories thrown together in a hap-hazard manner. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a twist ending story, but I prefer such twists to be a surprise, not build up to it from the halfway point. I don't enjoy cheering for the 'good guy' who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, only to realize he is as crooked as they come.

There isn't any likeable characters in this so it's hard to care about anyone. I had a vague feeling where the book was going the whole time too so there was surprise and that made it just kind of boring. Nothing special.

This book started out so promising, but somewhere in the middle it just took off on a tangent and I lost almost complete interest. It was like Grisham had his twist ending in mind, but didn't have a fully fleshed out story to go with it so he just stretched out a bunch of stuff in the middle to try and disguise the fact that he has trying to pull the wool over out eyes. It worked completely the opposite way though, because the simple fact that he was telling the story at all gave away the fact that it was going to end the way it did. Sadly, one of Grisham's most disappointing efforts. Would be 2 1/2 stars.
