The author takes real-life female authors from the early 1900s who likely didn’t know each other and puts them together in search of respect for women in the mystery genre. It’s fun to imagine a story with all these real authors together, dealing with the incredible sexism of their time.

Well, I too am a feminist, but I thought the author reminded us too forcefully too many times that much of their strengths and accomplishments came from their perspective as women. Their male counterparts couldn’t do what they could. It’s a fun story though. The murder mystery addresses some real issues as well.

I just think that some of the social issues it is trying to address was a bit heavy handed for literature.
