I really liked the art style. However, the story was in some ways really annoying. The main character, who is 23, dates a 17 year old and cheats on her. He's in a band and he's literally pathetic because that and the fact that his roommate is gay are the only interesting things about him. Any other random background character in the book would have been much more interesting as a protagonist (an 8 year old girl who's a drummer for a rock band with "and the boys" in its name? Iconic amazing I want more!). He falls in love with this rollerskating manic pixie dream girl who for some reason gives him a chance despite having so many better options. Now he has to fight her "evil ex boyfriends" like, power rangers style. I guess I kind of understand the charm of it because probably Scott's supposed to be an everyman dumbass character, but unless he actually grows into a better person through the story instead of his behavior being validated constantly, I don't know if I will keep reading.

It was OK-ish. Dissapointed for the use of the word "Retard" in a comic and no one of the publishers (even in the late editions post 201X) decided to replace it or just censoring it.
Besides that important point to be made, I liked how the story starts while my brain was processing a comparison between the movie and this comic as I've seen the movie first. Anyways. I hope the use of that word mentioned above has been replaced in the newly colored version.

Okay, I saw the movie, and I really really liked it. Granted, I thought Scott himself was pretty flat, and not at all interesting, but I enjoyed the rest of it, the other characters and the quirky not-quite-normal-reality world. I also like graphic novels, so I checked this out.

I really wish I had read it before I saw the movie, because the bright colors and quick scene shifts of the movie obviously aren't here, and so it almost feels like a skeleton of the movie. Darn it. I really didn't want to be influenced by the movie.

Okay, so. I did enjoy this. The story moves along at a quick pace while not getting too over-the-top or confusing. The characters are likeable (Scott is less flat than the movie - there I go again), and it's pretty funny. I am looking forward to reading the other volumes.

The movie did this justice. I can see and hear everything AH I love this

A friend lent me the series, after my utter confusion jumping into the Netflix show.

I’m not 100% sure what I just read, but the art was charming enough, and the humor is definitely there!! Letting the world take over and just saying “sure, alright” is hard for me, but let’s see where this goes!
