this was so so so much better than the first two stories applause, also i'm pretty sure what made it awesome is the mention of jack the ripper and the creepy elements

This one is this amazing mix of the past and the present. Listening to Tessa telling a story about Will, while seeing her and Jem happy warms my heart. I miss William Herondale as if I knew him for real.
It was great seeing Jace in this story too, trying to understand his family and bonding with Tessa, without losing his Jaciness.

Seems like Ms Clare just wants to put Will Herondale in every book in anyway she can. Even over a century after his death he still makes an appearance. I never liked Will and never thought his and Tessa's love story was a particularly adorable one. Also I still don't understand why the Herondales are so liked by the Shadowhunters. I mean the famous ones, Will and Jace are insufferable and also they broke too many Clave laws to be this renowned.
Also I noted the absence of Christopher Lightwood. So CC just added him when she wrote TLH? This is why you shouldn't go back and forth with your series that are in the same universe. The inconsistencies make it seem like amateur is writing these books.

Okay, this is definitely my favorite story from this whole book, although I'm not done yet, and it has everything to do with the flashback story Tessa told that involved Jem and my dear dear beloved Will and others from TID. Also, that letter Simon wrote to Izzy was everything! So many feelings!
25th March, 2016 - Initial Reaction: I have this attachment to The Infernal Devices and when I saw Will Herondale in the summary, I was like YAAAAAS. I loved reading about the new twist on the Jack the Ripper murders, and reading about Tessa and Will and Jem just made me so happy. Loved this short story! :)

Simon learns the truth behind the “Jack the Ripper” murders. Loved, loved, loved this novella mainly because we got to see Will Herondale and Tessa Gray along with their adorable kids who’ll be the main focus in The Last Hours trilogy. I love Cassie’s ingenuity; Jack the Ripper was a mundane killer but Cassie decides to turn him into someone that was actually a part of the Shadowhunter World. One of my favorites of the series; I gave this 5/5 stars.

...but then...BUT THEN!! You throw in NOT ONLY my future wife Tessa Gray, but an entire flashback to London w/ the entire Infernal Devices crew in tow. More importantly: Will FREAKING Herondale!! I mean what is their not to love?!

THE FACT THAT JACE KNOWS ABOUT TESSA BEING HIS GREAT GREAT AND SO ON GRANDMOTHER NOW MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! He gets to learn more things about his Herondale legacy and have a nice and wonderful living relative. That just makes me so ecstatic
