Yeah, we got to be in Tessa's head! And how Jack the Ripper was part of the Shadowhunter/Downworlder world!
Well, this contained Will, Tessa, Jem, Cecily & Gabriel - obviously I had to give it 5 stars. Also one last thing: WIGGLES !
I have yet to read the infernal devices, so I wasn't as connected. Also Jack the Ripper stuff just can feel a bit played.

There was lots I enjoyed about this one, especially Tessa's lecture and that throwback longish scene. The conundrum for me, is that not having read TMI series, I don't know who Jace, Simon etc are and so there are holes in my knowledge. That said, it was interesting still. I'm reading these stories that have been flagged as useful before CHAIN OF GOLD.

The Whitechapel Fiend is not the most interesting short story in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy. I'm not a big fan of The Infernal Devices so it's not surprising but I also don't think it has much Simon development which I think is disappointing compared to the previous stories.
It has many fun moments though (the spoon, Jace messing with Simon, ...) and Jace finally making a connection with Tessa is heartwarming.
The highlight is Simon and Jace's relationship, I love that Simon's "amnesia" gives them an opportunity to become friends under better circumstances.
