I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. I enjoyed the story, H/h and secondary characters.

I read the Soulbound series before starting this book and might've gone into it with the wrong expectations.

There is just too much sex in this book for me. The plot that WAS there was interesting and I will definitely check out the sequel (and readjust my expectations).

I also did not enjoy the insta-love between Kyle and Jamie and they are both a bit boring to me (especially Jamie). I did love the sibling relationship between Kyle and Alexei and I am intrigued enough to keep going with the series.

If you love paranormal romance with lots of (enthusiastic and consensual) sex and the beginnings of an interesting overarching plot I would absolutely recommend this book. If you want your paranormal romance a bit more plot heavy you might wanna skip this one.

DID NOT FINISH: 59%

When the MCs got together, it felt like the book should have ended. I didn't care enough to finish.

4.5 Stars I'm rounding up because really the only thing missing from this story was a little bit of romance. I loved the action, and ok, phew! That was one HOT book! Damn that's some incredibly incendiary sex scenes. I liked all the characters loads as well. But the little niggle was that while the connection between Jaime and Kyle was incredibly sexy, the romance was missing a little bit. I'm hoping that will actually grown in the next book in the series.

The concept here is a good one too. I liked the idea of metahuman's who basically get their powers by winning the genetic lottery in the most poignant way possible. They survive when everyone else will die from Splice, essentially a horrific biological weapon that kills over 90% of people who encounter it, and very quickly. Jamie and Kyle's meeting was fun too. Meet at a bar first, go home together, and then the shock when you meet again is so much more fun.

There's a great team dynamic here and I liked seeing how they all interacted. Fitting Kyle and his brother in worked out so well too. Of course things had to start out prickly, but that's what keeps things entertaining. I can't wait to read more.

Jesus what a ride.
I usually don’t read this genre, I’ve tried Soulbound by this author and I cant say that it was my favourite. Well, I am shocked to say that Metahumans win.
The story is a bit insta, I get that near death experience and overall war like combat situations contribute to rather fast bonding but I don’t buy it. I mean a bit more space could’ve been good here.
The other thing this book is heavy on sex, I can’t recall last time I’ve read sooo much smut in one book. There is a scene that takes maybe a chapter and I don’t even exaggerate. Also it is spread disproportionately, there is way to much sex in the second half. Don’t get me wrong sex scenes are pretty good but it gets a bit repetitive with the progression of the plot cause we start to see a pretty clear pattern of mission, sex, mission, sex and so on.
Overall the characters are pretty cool, the plot is interesting and I will definitely continue reading it.
adventurous medium-paced

- too much sex. Hot sex, yes... But a bit too much.
- which sometimes made the relationship just that. From where the feelings developed, a bit hard to understand. But still okay...

I've been in an MM kick (like that's new) since Grad School is driving me to the end of my rope but like. Holy. Shit. This is like, proper urban fantasy. It's action packed and so funny. Plus, the team has their own military version of "No Mourners, No Funerals" which evokes so many feels.

This went aove and beyond what I thought I thought I could expext from an MM romance with that cover on Kindle Unlimited but you won't hear me complaining.

This is a solid introduction to an intricate series and it doesn't ever lose steam. It's go go go from the first chapter. I loved Jamie and Kyle so much, but I can tell I'm going to fall hard for all the side characters.

Oh. I made a little Alpha Team cheat sheet, if anyone's interested.
