This was my first book by Jennifer L Armentrout. She did not really disappoint me. I enjoyed her writing style. I will continue on with this series to see what happens.

The book starts with Alex being hunted by daimons. Alex had seen her mom get killed or so she thought. Alex kills two daimons and ends up being rescued by Aiden. Alex and her mom left the covenant but now Alex was being taken back there. Her uncle let her back in only if Aiden could train her and get her to where she needed to be in her training. Along the way, Aiden and Alex get close. They cannot be together though because one is a pure and one is a half-blood. Does Alex get caught up? What happens between her and Aiden?

Just finished this book.... PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!! Rivals the vampire academy series, even though the story line is very similar. If you loved vampire academy, you'll definitely love this series!

I enjoyed this book and the magic system. You can tell when this book was written based on the writing and language but it was easy to get past. One thing that threw me off for basically the whole book was the fact that the main love interest was 20 and she was 17 because while 3 years isn’t a bad age gap, the actual ages are worlds apart. However, there didn’t seem to be a weird power-complex so that was good. Overall, I enjoyed the actual romance part and I am invested in the plot and will be reading on through the series.
