Such a fun cute read. Fall in the PNW really had me missing me seasons!
Lexi and Will end up in a fake dating/fake engagement situation. I loved their banter, their chemistry, their easy friendship. As always Sophie does strong female friendships so well. I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

This was a very cute and cozy read! Fake engagement trope made it for a fun and entertaining time too!
For the most part, the story kept me intrigued all the way through. Just really wish Lexi wasn’t constantly bringing up the same internal thoughts and reasons why she lacked confidence so much. It got very repetitive.
I did like Lexi’s mom and how her grief was shown in the story. We saw all sides of it, the good and the bad. Especially when Lexi isn’t understanding why anyone would choose to love someone so much.
This is a closed door romance and wish there had been an extra oomph to show why our main characters fell in love so quickly and how they felt that spark.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC an exchange for an honest review!

- Meet cute
- Fake relationship
- Friends to lovers
I read a lot of romances and it's not always easy to find one that really grabs my attention. This book, right from the start, had me hanging on every word. I adored the dynamic between Will and Lexi. Their chemistry was a palpable thing and I rooted for them the whole book.
Lexi is struggling to put herself through college and pay off debts left to her by her late father. At her second job, as a waitress, she met Will, who was one of her customers. When she sees some former high school friends, she lets them think she is with Will instead of working there. This little untruth snowballs when she is invited to their party...and is introduced as Will's fiancee! When Will's high powered family sees this tidbit in the local paper, Will and Lexi decide to go along with the ruse..for now.
However, Will would like this to be a real relationship. Now he has to convince Lexi to give him a chance!

Love all of her books. This one was great, but just a *bit* too unrealistic. Let's maybe take a hot second to know someone before we jump in? The relationship timeline here was like 6 weeks. But a super cute, fast read! Only real issue is it's set in Seattle; as a Seattle native there were some settings that were perplexing. Like a bar...with an APPLE ORCHARD...by the UW? But also near downtown? But also by "the water"? Girl, what. And a character describing a location as "southern Washington," only "an hour away." Just say the city? And it could take an hour to go 20 miles outside of Seattle. But if you don't know Seattle/WA this is totally not an issue, and the described locations are fun!
Lexi and Will are an unlikely match to begin with, and a misunderstanding leads to a fake engagement that’s announced in the newspaper. Despite their different backgrounds and circumstances, the two decide to date while maintaining their public engagement.
Sophie Sullivan writes joyful, sweet, closed door romances that focus on building the relationship between characters. This book has the most adorable meet cute! I loved it. Will is down to earth and falls fast, and Lexi is independent. I enjoyed the fall vibes and their sweet seasonal dates. This book would make the perfect rainy day companion to snuggle up with!

Way too insta-lovey, just imagine it takes place over like 6mon and not 6 weeks I guess
