This gave me one dark window vibes & I loved it so much!! I spent my whole day reading this & it was the best thing I could've chosen to listen to. Can't wait to read more of her books!

I absolutely adore Margaret Rogerson's other two full length novels. They're some of my favorite romance books of all time, I just love the way she writes banter. I got 67% into this book before I realized there was no romance in this book! That's totally fine, I'm not one to need romance in every book I read, it just wasn't what I wanted from this book. What I read was great though! Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for fantasy YA.

First story I've read in a while without romance! I loved it...it was refreshing even though I love a good love story....great characters!

Something about this one motivated me to read it twice in a row. It was also a nice book to read while traveling for Thanksgiving . . . though not necessarily seasonally appropriate, but I suppose the argument could be made that the main character has things to be thankful for by the end of the book ;)

This story hit the ground running and went right on until the end, pulling me into the world and mythos and taking me for a very enjoyable ride.

I loved Artemisia as a heroine; she's not afraid to do what she has to do, but she is still a very flawed individual and it shows throughout the story. Although the bulk of the story is Artemisia trying to save the land she lives in, there's enough time dedicated to her growing as a person and learning how to make friends. I loved seeing how her relationships with the different characters developed throughout the novel.

Probably what I love most about this novel though is that our lead is female...and there's no love interest. Those looking for it might find POTENTIAL, but not an actual love story -and I'm so thankful for that. Since I was a young adult myself, I wanted more female-led stories with no romance, so I'm happy girls with similar mindsets have a book like this.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a good spooky read that's similar in feel to Garth Nix's original "Abhorsen" trilogy.
