An interesting imagining of where the world could be if magic waves started destroying technology. The back and forth of magic to tech is one of the most interesting and unique aspects of this book. The mythology is a little sketchy, world building a little hazy, but all in all the main characters are likable (which I need) and the side characters are fleshed out enough to stay interesting.

The main character is 'powerful' in an undefined way; she's a fighter, independent, strong and written well. There are shape changers, magic users and vampire masters as side characters with a smattering of 'normal' folks.

I'd have kept on with this series regardless, as I've heard so much about it, but the first book is pretty average. I actually started this book ages ago (8+years?) in a book store but didn't buy it because it didn't catch me. This time I found it more engaging and of course the Kindle makes a series so easy to get!

WOW!I can't even express how much i loved the first installment of Kate Daniels series!I was looking for something fresh that could make me turn every single page until i'm done. And guess what? I found what i was looking for.

Recommend to: #Everyone who loves urban fantasy with brand new twists and a kick ass heroine.

Reasons to love Kate:
-She can kick ass like nobody can
-She doesn't give a damn about what you think
-She is too careful and smart
-She makes you laugh in every single page
-She doesn't crush under pressure
-She isn't insecure,She is good and she knows it!

Favorite quotes
“Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty...”

“It's a reflex. Hear a bell, get food. See an undead, throw a knife. Same thing, really.”

“And then what?"
"I'll burn that bridge when I cross it.”
