Dante + Delilah
mob boss + nurse

I liked this book, but they felt like one of these couples that do not end up together, due to their lack of communication. She's too comfortable being submisse and not speaking up and he's too comfortable being bossy and deciding for her, in a way that does not feel complimentary. I did enjoy it, the spice level, exploring some kinks, the set up, his immediate falling for her. The characters' construction was very neat, although the characters were somewhat annoying. Probably not gonna read the other books.

ps. I LOVE her name

I had a hard time with this one. I accidentally read the books out of order - reading corrupted chaos first - and I’m glad I did. I liked CC but, had I read this one before it, I don’t know if I would have finished the series. Sometimes I get frustrated that I’m a finishers because I really wanted to quit this one. Delilah is a real hard character to like. For being so smart, she’s really dumb. I get her mental health issues but she’s just not likable. So many times, I just wanted him to leave her ass. And, if I drank for every time I read the word “lamb”, I would have been in a coma, too. I suffered through finishing it but it was rough.

This book was too much chaos and too fast. and lamb?

i wasn’t a fan of this book at all. not a fan of the m mc, he never really communicated well with the f mc, and then the same with the f mc towards the m mc.

Repetitive

Had high hopes for this book since plot sounded good. I was letdown.
It is so repetitive! I'm shocked I finished this.

DNF

Well another book tok FAIL. Thought this was gonna be a decent brothers best friend romance with a tatted up hopefully "brooding misunderstood bad boy", come on, we all know we love 'em, but this was just not it.

Where to begin. First off, the characters aren't very well written. Our FMC is meant to be this charming "good girl" but whose mental health suffers from unrealistic expectations and (spoiler alert) a miscarriage. But I found her to be just really annoying, has zero back bone, and would contract herself between trying to change and being a push over. Our MMC started out decent, but then his entire personality just changed. I get we were going for the mafia, tough, controlling dominant bad guy. But we just got cringe.

Also the set ups were constantly changing and not introduced well. Like our MMC started out as the brothers best friend, then he was military, then he was like a mercenary contracted with the government, but oh wait he also is from a huge mob family, and then he owns like half the town, oh but wait he also grew up on this horse/animal farm. Like it was constantly like "oh wait but there is more" but with horrible set up. Like you're trying to check a bunch of boxes off on a romance novel checklist.

The plot was barely there. The majority of the book was inner monologue brought on by two characters that cannot have a conversation. It's like every time they talked they each had different conversations and came to completely different conclusions from absolutely nothing. It was so infuriating. I understand the miscommunication trope, but this wasn't even that. It was just plan two characters who couldn't communicate and constantly made up these different scenarios in their heard of what happened or what was said.

And the twin thing was just cringe. We barely got any actual set up of the twin relationship. We were told they were close and loved each other but every interaction they acted like strangers. And then the triangle? Was just so cringe and gross. Like why.

The only redeemable part of the book was that the spice was written decently. We got variety in terms of play (voyuerism, wax play, temperature play), and there was a fair amount to deem this a smut book. But it was definitely a smut book with no plot.
