This is my first Shain Rose book but it will not be my last. Dante and Delilah hooked me into their rollercoaster ride and I did not want to get off. It was a great time, emotional with all the feels and all the angst but a great time nonetheless. Dante is Delilah’s older brothers best friend. During the summer before she started college, she was left home alone while her brothers were busy else where and her parents were dealing with her twin sister so she came up with a plan to lose her virginity to Dante. They spend days together and Dante was to make their relationship permanent and come clean to the family. But he gets called back to the military before it can happen. Delilah goes to college cross the country. Fast forward a few years and Dante is back in her life in Puerto Rico where she is going to start working as a nurse. They have their work cut out for themselves to get to their HEA and when they finally get there, all the ups and downs and bumps they hit become worth it. Definitely an enjoyable read and will be reading more of this series.

This book was not it for me. Delilah was so whiney and the self loathing got unbearable. The plot was non existent and the smut was pretty much her doing it all while saying how much they shouldn’t. Also, I now hate the word lamb. If pet names give you the ick, don’t bother with this. The author tried too hard to make Dante into a “bad boy”, so the vibes just weren’t there. He did have some really sweet qualities and I found that I liked his character more than the FMC. This isn’t one I’d recommend.

The spice was incredible, but at the same time it was very repetitive and lamb lamb lamb got annoying!

Been on my KU TBR for ages.

Gets into the smut IMMEDIATELY lol

It definitely has the miscommunication trope because they are both keeping secrets and not telling each other the whole story but I didn’t mind it. There was logic behind why each of them were keeping their own secrets. It added to their frustrations and tension too.

The spice was great but the MMC seemed to go through so wild changes. It’s almost like the author couldn’t decide what she wanted him to be. He was a sweet, down home hero type, then army guy, then billionaire mafia dominant type. Pick one and stick with it? He just changed so much over the course of the book and I began to miss who he had been at the beginning.

Also Delilah’s hang ups about why they can’t be together was ridiculous. It wasn’t the fact that he’s a mob guy and has fucking murdered people, it was completely irrational other internal issues of hers.

The repetition of Lamb and seven to heaven got so old. I don’t mind inside names and jokes between couples in books like this but they should be used more sparingly.

I do think I’ll go back and read book 1 and maybe continue with the series. The writing was enjoyable.

It’s also super weird he dated her sister. Even if it was just a date and didn’t go any further.

I know Dante is a mafia guy but it got old seeing him constantly disregard what she wants because he knows best.

There were times I didn’t really like this book it felt like their communication was really lacking and I didn’t like how much Lilah hooked up with other guys and the scene with Lorenzo blew my mind I was so shocked!! I really felt like I didn’t have a good grasp on these characters cause they were constantly doing shit that surprised me. I hated the part of the storyline with Izzy loving Dante and how Dante treated Izzy and took her on a date or whatever. But Dante loved Lilah down and I am going to read the next book I wanna see Izzy and Cade together!
