Read it in 2 days. Loved it. Possibly my favorite in the series. They go to the library! True identities are revealed! Just desserts are served! Good times.

I'm no longer objective about these books - the further we go, the deeper the foreshadowing, the more I'm used to these characters, the more addicted I get. It killed me to wait two weeks for this book to be ready at my library.

I didn't know there was another book. I was so upset that I didn't, because I wasn't able to get this book the day it hit the shelves. Ah! I felt cheated. Yes, I'm one of those people. Anyhow, I devoured this book in a day and a night. I loved it! There's so much in this book. I read it so fast, I just know I missed stuff, so I'm definitely reading it again.

This is one of the more straightforward October Daye books we've seen in a while.

Toby is investigating (and interfering with) the trafficking of Goblin Fruit. This fairy substance is instantly addictive to changelings and fatal to mortals. It's also something of a popular pastime for the immortal, jaded fey.

Toby quickly learns that the trade in goblin fruit is not just being ignored by the Queen of the Mists, but actually supported. And in her actions against it, Toby has finally crossed the line with the Queen, and is sentenced to banishment.

Toby and her friends are left with three days in which to find a way to shut down the goblin fruit trade, get the banishment overturned, or maybe just overturn the monarchy.

In addition to this immediate problem, we learn more about Toby's past, that of her mother, and where the Luidaeg fits in.

It left me pretty excited for the next part.

I love this series and the characters so much. After taking a break between 6 and 7, it was like smelling fresh-baked cookies to enter their world again!

I feel like this one was less exciting than the previous books in the series, even though with the politics, it had a lot more potential to be layered. Will continue with series, but hope there's more depth.

Also, I want more challenges to Toby and Tybalt's relationship. He's turned into a complete milksop. I'm sure some readers like the solid, committed, relationship, but it's boring. I want tension. After it's beyond "will they/won't they?" it should progress to "can they?" and outside pressure should complicate the relationship. At least this is how I like my urban fantasy.
