Two whole weeks since everyone died and I had only made the most cursory attempts to find any other survivors..... I had watched porn instead.

I freaking loved this. It was so refreshing to have a post-apocalypse book with a British sense of humour. There were so many points that were my favourite but I don't want to give anything away. You may find the MC a little self-indulgent and self-pitying. I honestly hated her for a short while, but let's be honest, we're not all going to be the best apocalypse survivors. This was a treat.

Also, there's a dog. Need I say any more?

I picked this up knowing nothing about it with quite low expectations and was absolutely blown away. This book was tragic, dark and harrowing but also genuinely funny and relatable, with twists in the plot I didn't see coming. I would definitely recommend but be prepared for some very vivid descriptions of death and decay.

Don't let the cover fool you, this is a post apocalyptic story of survival.

Set in 2023 there is an outbreak of an awful disease called 6DM, (6 Days Maximum, as that's how long you have.) wiping out the world's population. Everyone except our narrator whowe then follow on her journey of survival.

Pros:
Loved the premise and that it was set in the UK as these things are usually US based storywise.
Loved how it explored how lonely it would be and thedescriptions of the world after are heartbreaking and harrowing. The part at the zoo in particular really got to me.
Really enjoyed the style it was told in, it really suited this story.
I enjoyed the exploration of who we really are deep down.

Cons: The main character was a bit of an idiot, and made some appalling decisions to the point she really annoyed me several times. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ She seemed to have no survival instinct. Yes you could argue she had suffered massive trauma but surely some instinct would kick in.
The ending was too abrupt for my liking and  didn't flow right.

Also take note there is obviously a great deal of death, dead bodies in various states of decomposition, numerous bodily fluids and animal deaths.

Wow, just wow. The start of the book was hard but as I got used to the circumstances, it gor easier. After half-way through I didn't want to stop reading at all.

I have just finished the audiobook and I loved it.

I think this is a definite book to listen to. To story is told through recordingd mad by the main character. The narrator brings so much more emotion to the book. There's scenes where you really feel all the emotions and you are there with the main character hoping she get through everything. This makes the listening to the audiobook very emotional, there were times where I wanted to cry on the bus.

I would really recommend this to anyone who wants a different take on a distopian.

Absolutely beautiful, terrifying and tear-jerking in equal measure. Broke my heart and made me sob, whilst simultaneously inspiring in moral and our protagonist’s journey and stark reminder to live life and hold your loved ones close. I’ve never read a more emotive read, or challenging journey, and don’t know if I ever will again.

More coherent thoughts to come soon, but just, phenomenal. ⭐️
