“And yet he couldn’t stop.
He couldn’t stop touching and tasting and wanting her.
Needing her.”

While this was a fun read, it was fluffy and kind of thoughtless, something to read to easily be swept into a different world, a different life. But there are so many better well-done fantasy romance novels, that go deeper into the romantic relationship and make it much more realistic and authentic. In that case, A Court of Thorns and Roses is magnitudes better, portraying a raw, deep love, whereas War of Hearts seems superficial and fake. This novel doesn’t go past lust and the origin story of the main character seems hastily put together as do her powers. It seems the author takes the easy way out of the battles and challenges the characters face, making is unrealistic and honestly very very eye-rolling to read. If a quality fantasy romance is what you’re looking for, you won’t find it here, but if a fluffy feel-good read is the goal, this is the novel for you.

A well-written, fast-paced paranormal romance

I love how action-packed the story is. The story reads like a thriller and the romance develops slowly betwin two people who start as enemies. Despite being clasiffied as a paranormal romance, War of Hearts isn’t just a love story between supernatural creatures. The characters are relatable and endearing and you root for them to succeed. A couple of plot twists makw it hard to put down the book.

This was one of my first experiences with reading PNR, and I have to say that Samantha Young writes this genre brilliantly. I found myself immersed in the mythology of the world that Young created, as well as a vested interest in the path of the characters. I thought that the bond between Thea and Conall was very compelling, and their chemistry was off the charts. And, without giving spoilers, I found the conclusion of the story to be wholly satisfying, even if it might have been a tad predictable. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I absolutely love Sam Young, I’ve reread the On Dublin Street series many times and cry every time, every book I love so much, so when I found out about this one, and the fact that it’s paranormal I had to read it! I loved Thea and the subtle Braden vibes I got from Conall, their character dynamics were amazing and the world building was super cool! I can’t wait for book 2 and some Fionn, I was instantly intrigued when I first met his character!
