It was way better than the first book.
Aside from Aristotle realizing that he might be bi and the he might like Dante for simply being Dante, it was, in a way very different book.
It deals with transphobia (which is peculiar, because the author is being cancelled for that), racism and homophobia.
Dialogues between lovebirds are still trash and vomit inducing, side characters are not very distinguishable. Sometimes the narration is very cringey.
The only saving grace are Aristotle-Father talks. Even though it’s not much, it was done exquisitely, even though some points were naïve.

I loved this book! It is a sequel and it is so well-written and will definitely make you cry.

This is an amazing story...a real story...
Even though I grew up in the 80s I only know about being queer in hindsight...
I know how it is today, I didn't know how it was then, I hadn't discovered the feeling that SEPARATED me...but being black always separated me first.
I missed an important thing about Rico....why did he die?
Ari was mourning his death, but I missed how/why he died...I rewound multiple times.
Everything else just resonated strongly with me...read Book 1 then 2

The lessons and issues the author expresses throughout Aristotle and Dante is great, something all teens and young adults should start thinking and questioning. It really opens your eyes and teaches you things society doesn’t talk about. However, I disliked the authors writing style, especially in this book. Reading it, it felt like a super long lecture about life condensed in 557 pages. Every single paragraph was something philosophical and it was just too much for me. It seemed so repetitive at times and it was so painful getting through the middle of the book.
I appreciated the part when Ari lost his father. I feel the author showed the grief of a family member very well. Family and friends was definitely the full front for this story. It was nice to read about the friend group with Cassandra, Susie, and Gina. The whole love between Ari and Dante was kind of messy and all over the place, but the ending was satisfying.
