Super super cute. Great art (love the shoutouts to other graphc novelists), sweet story that kids are going to eat up.
Read aloud to our 7yo - she gives it 100 stars. Students in my library agree.

Cute. Very realistic. It’d be very difficult to run against your twin for student council president! The author and illustrator did a great job working together to relay Maureen and Fran’s emotions and thoughts, and add in a few ideas that are becoming more normalized, too.

perfectly captures so many complex sibling emotions, with adorable/beautiful art and loveable characters!
Just loved this MG graphic novel, a relatable realistic fiction story about twin sisters starting middle school and adjusting to changes in their relationship, from having separate classes to keeping secrets from each other. Few MG books realistically depict how fraught sibling relationships can be, with betrayals and deep cuts coexisting alongside strong bonds. I cringed and hurt along with Maureen as she weathered hurts caused by her sister and well-meaning but imperfect parents, and I cringed and hurt as Maureen did her own share of hurting. Both main characters are delightful and delightfully drawn.
I especially appreciate the positive depiction of a loving Black family, strong and successful Black main characters, and a diverse supporting cast. Upper elementary and middle school readers will enjoy the art by Shannon Wright.
Recommended strongly for elementary and middle school libraries. My only negative criticism is that the cutesy cover may turn off some older readers seeking more mature graphic novels and thinking that the content will be too juvenile for them, as it seems to be a cartoony book more appealing for lower elementary readers. The plot and character development are definitely suited to older readers even if the cover suggests otherwise.

Book Bingo 2023 - Graphic Novel
Endearing and realistic to the age group. Starting middle school, sibling rivalries, and figuring out who you are. I'm on a MG graphic novels kick right now, clearly

Super cute graphic novel about twin girls, Maureen and Francine starting middle school together and learning how to be individuals while keeping their sisterhood intact when a student council election comes between them.
