An amazing athlete, but the book just felt rather disjointed and hard to read unfortunately

Kilian Jornet is probably one of, if not the greatest athletes of all time, with a legendary track record of winning some of the hardest races in the world, and almost effortlessly climbing the tallest mountains in the world unaided and in record times. All of this should have supplied endless epic material for a killer book, but sadly Kilian does not have the same skills in story telling or writing, and it shows in this book. A not insignificant part is also spent railing against the modern world and his disdain for fame and recognition. So while there are many interesting anecdotes, it was not what I had hoped it would've been.

Grand. Nothing special although this might have been different if I had more of an interest in the subject.

As someone else noted, Kilian is not the best of storytellers. Initially I dismissed him as arrogant, but I as I read more, I recognized myself in him. Those who are extremely introverted CAN appear arrogant, and I forget that about myself.
Kudos to Kilian for stepping outside his comfort zone and putting out this book for all to see. I've been a runner, mostly on the flats, for over 40 years. Kilian makes me want to run up a mountain.

I fond this book to be extremely dull. One of my favorite books is Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, and I think that I was hoping it would live up to his high standard of compelling fiction writing. Unfortunately, I was so bored by this book. I was really hoping for more from this book, but Jornet's storytelling skills are just not up to par with his athleticism. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley to review.

Kilian's story is a fascinating insight into the mind and life of an endurance athlete. It's amazing what the body can endure and achieve.

He just... ran up Everest. Just ran right up.
