literally the best book i have ever read in my life it’s in the fibers of me now
Personally I find Holocaust survival stories really interesting and so I really enjoyed reading this book. I also liked reading about how she (the author) continued with her life and her patients and their problems. I thought this book would be boring considering it was non-fiction and about feelings but it was entertaining the whole way through.
This is one of the best books I’ve read. It is the inspirational story of an amazing life written so bravely and honestly. I appreciated that unlike other war stories, only the first section is a recount of the war, and the rest of the book (the majority) follows Edith’s life after the war through her coping and healing.
I enjoyed all of the accounts of her psychology patients and the lessons to be learnt from them. I particularly appreciated how Edith wrote so honestly and in detail of her own motivations and processes for healing.
I feel like I have grown and learnt important lessons on accepting responsibility for my choices on how I react to situations and focus on what is important to me in my life.
This book is unlike anything I have read before and very different to what I expected but I am very grateful to have read it and I would recommend it to anyone, even with no interest in war or history.
