2.75!! this book had visceral and shining moments, but ultimately I felt like my fascination with it rested mostly on the concept and not the execution. lots droning passages that I had to skip, though it picked up in the second half!

I don't think I should rate this book because I did that thing where you read but don't concentrate. Could barely tell you two things that happened. Not sure to what degree that was me and to what degree that was the book, though

this honestly took me a bit of time as it started slow in the beginning but after 100 pages, i was in it and it was just a good overall book towards the end. great writing!!
This book is pretty heavy. It made me feel like we are all floating in the universe, but waiting for doom. Also I was a little lost in the more involved passages on religion, and my unfamiliarity with Japanese locations and history showed.
Someone else will love this book. That person is not me.
