Where was the hope? This was lacking in emotion, and homelessness is one of the saddest things in the world to me. Wish we knew this character — let alone the others — a lot more. But maybe that was the point? Just didn’t land for me.

I think I would have liked it more if I hadn’t listened to it as an audiobook. A moving account of homelessness and trying to get by.
Beautiful prose but all the bad things happened to this guy, to a ridiculous degree. I truly almost laughed at how awful it must be to bury your parent and then wake up to your wife also dead.
