This is beautiful and heartbreaking! Thematically and stylistically it's also a bit of a departure from Yoon's previous YA novels, but I'm here for it.

Loved this! I loved the little bit of magic incorporated in and it was really bitter sweet and beautiful on many levels

Heart hurts. Review pending.

It was really beautiful and hopeful but also unexpected in a sad way.

That certainly wasn't what I thought it would be, but it made for a nice YA romance. I have to warn you, though — this book is sad. No getting around that. It's no Strictly Ballroom either (what is???).

i picked this book up because i was seeking fluff and positive vibes, and i did get that in abundance but i also felt a lot of pain. there are so many layers to this story and im quite amazed that it packed a lot of heart in less than 400 pages. i love the natural progression of the main romance. i adore the magical elements. i like the funny and witty writing, and i appreciate the way it highlights family and friendship too. this is one of the most unique and heartfelt YA contemporaries i have ever read. very highly recommend this one!!

Adorable, funny, frustrating, sad and inspiring. There were so many emotions to unpack throughout this story, which is so close to how the real world feels. Don’t let anyone fool you though - this is not a ‘fluff’ novel. Sure it’s got many cute and almost silly moments, but it also discusses a lot of tough feelings and situations. I enjoyed it overall.

ME IMAGINÉ DE TODO MENOS QUE TERMINARÍA LLORANDO CON ESTE LIBRO. DESTRUIDA QUEDE

So I have a habit of requesting books other people recommend to me from the library and then being totally surprised when they’re ready for me to read and then powering through them before the due date is up.

This was one of those books. I didn’t really have an idea of what it was about when it became available, but I’m not super discriminatory when it comes to things I read so figured I’d dive in. The cover looked fun, so I assumed it’d be a chick lit style book I’d finish quickly and then forget.

While I wasn’t entirely wrong, I have to say that this book was actually more about a teenage girl’s experience dealing with her parents divorce, the changing of relationships, and growing up overall with a side of girl-meets-boy (and an unexpected ending). I won’t include it in any of my favorite books of all time lists, but it genuinely surprised me that there was true depth behind the flourishing cover and author’s last works.

Anyway, all this to say this was a four star book I expected to be a three star book.
