Loved this until the last rushed and overwrought 20%. Ending felt unfinished (not in a good way).
This author's other books have grabbed me immediately. This one took a bit longer to get into but once I was hooked I couldn't put it down. A very satisfying romance for young adults. Good for middle schoolers too. No graphic romance scenes. A sweet love story. Have a box of Kleenex ready.
Wow Instructions for Dancing was so beautiful. Such a bittersweet story. I loved reading Evie’s journey. The magic element was perfect. A quick read but an a amazing one!
I don’t always write out reviews for books. Usually, I am content to just give a book a rating and move on. But I have to write something about this book. I genuinely cannot remember a time I have felt this way about a book. It has been years. This book was so refreshing because I don’t understand how it can be so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I was hooked and so invested. I mean, I am pretty sure I teared up off and on for the last 13 chapters and by the last page, there were tears rolling down my cheek. I seriously cannot thank this book for seriously captivating me in a way I thought I couldn’t be anymore.
Honestly, I only bought this book because I thought the cover art was beautiful.
Immediately after I began to read Instructions For Dancing, I was pleasantly surprised by the magical quality of this book. I think Nicola Yoon does a good job of teaching the power of Love to a young reader that may not have a lot of dating or heartbreak experience.
The only reason why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because all of the characters were disappointingly flat, including our main character Evie. I didn't connect with her, and outside of her disillusionment with love she didn't have any notable personality traits.

"In situations like this, most people wish that a hole would open up in to the ground and swallow them. But i dont want that. What I want is to be that hole. I don't know what the sentiment is supposed to mean, but I'm sure I mean it."
???
It's not even funny how the author half-ass tried to subvert that phrase. It's just horrible writing
