I was not ready for this 😩

I usually live for this kind of contemporary romance, but it was just okay for me. There was something so simplistic about the writing style that fell flat. I actually wanted my heart strings tugged more. The concept of the book was so intriguing, but the delivery wasn’t there.

I would still recommend this for classroom libraries because I think a lot of people (especially teenagers) would like it a lot. I personally wanted a little more of that ā€œmake me careā€ factor. 3.5 rounded up.

I don’t know how this one got on my TBR list— maybe a blog? It’s not my favorite genre; it’s a YA romance. But the reason that I didn’t like this one has to do with the content, not the genre. In particular, the secret-keeping by the main character is troubling and toxic, yet is portrayed as noble. She keeps the secret of her father’s infidelity from her younger sister (even though she’s not that much younger.) she keeps the secret of her visions from friends and family. These secrets damage the relationships, but are never named or revealed as damaging.

✨

This one....went in a way different direction than I was expecting. It's much more of a bittersweet ending; more similar to Yoon's second book than to her first one. But, just like all of Yoon's books - I loved it!
*contains swearing, slight making out, mentions of characters having sex as adults (time travel-ish I guess??)*

I’ve read Nicola Yoon and the past and I’ve always thought her books were good, but this one is exceptional. The emotions I’ve felt were so strong and I real. I understood more about people and why we react the way we do. I fell in love with all the characters and I’m hurt the way it had to end. The book was spectacular and I recommend to everyone, this book teaches a lesson that everyone should learn.

Beautifully heartwarming and heartbreaking I loved every word and every page

Evie is cynical about love after her Dad betrays his family by having an affair and leaving. She receives a power to see the ending of peoples’ relationships when she watches them kiss.

She goes in search of an explanation and lands at a dance studio, where she meets X. He’s a musician who lost his best friend, and he’s decided to live a full life in the moment.

I get the philosophy of carpe diem. I also get the idea of saying yes to things, and valuing the love you have. The part that bothers me is that the end is still part of the story. The love and hurt remain, it’s time that runs out.

For Evie, the love of her life is short lived, and it’s heartbreaking to read about. Its not what I hoped, the magic somehow reversing, there being more. I was disappointed in this fiction that brought only harsh truth.
