I will need a few business days to recover and process this book.
This was such a cute, heartwrenching, sweet read. Nicola Yoon has done it again, but I think this is my favorite of her books so far.
The story follows Evie and X as they get paired up to compete in a dance competition. Evie is struggling with love and whether she believes in it after her parents' divorce, and X complicates things further by being perfect for her.
It seemed like a pretty solid, cute YA Contemporary Romance, but I should have known better. Things took a little bit of an unexpected turn, and it made me like the book even more. I won't say more because I think this book should be read without knowing too much.
All in all, the moral of the story is simple, but important, and I think this book does a wonderful job of delivering its message. I'm so glad I got to read this!
Note: HUGE thank you to Netgalley and publishers for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own :)

This book is sweet and heartbreaking. It wasn’t what I expected when I picked it up, but I think it’s not meant to be. The whole book is about coming to terms with not knowing the end from the beginning, and deciding to take chances anyway.
I’ve never read a book by Nicola Yoon that I didn’t like, and there’s no exception here. If you like contemporary YA romance with a little dash of magic, this one is for you!

Another one down. This was so funny and sweet. Eve was very hurt by her parents choice to get divorced after learning of her father’s infertility. As a senior in HS ages dealing with a lot and has to learn how to navigation hurt, healing, love, loss/grief and learning how to open yourself up to new possibilities. I appreciated the topic of grief especially because Evie’s feelings mirror some of the feelings I still have today as an adult. This was beautiful! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoyed this, it was a very sweet coming-of-age story about young love, learning your parents are human and make mistakes, and grief. I would absolutely recommend
This book made me cry. It was a fast paced young adult romance until suddenly it shifted and I was crying. Maybe just me.

Every time I pick up one of Nicola Yoon’s books, she rips my heart out, breaks it, and hands it back to me - somehow a little more healed than when I started.
Instructions for Dancing is a beautiful, devastating, hopeful story about love - romantic love, friendship, family - the lengths to which we’ll go to protect ourselves and those we love from difficult realities, and what we miss when “protect” becomes “close off.” Every character in this story is complex and real, and even with a dash of magic it feels like I could meet them in LA today if I wanted to.
To not read this book would be a real tragedy.
