This book broke my heart and I loved every page

She does it AGAIN! I would read a trash bag if Nicola Yoon wrote a manuscript on it. This is the sweetest book and I just adored the message behind it. It adds a new twist that her other books don’t have, which I loved. It’s just amazing and I recommend all of her books to everyone.

SO cute. SO sweet. And exactly the right amount of a emotion for a romantic young adult contemporary. Loved our main characters, loved the incorporation of dance into the plot. Loved it all. Probably my favorite Nicola Yoon book so far!

lola made me read this.. I’m convinced my friends want me to suffer

Read it straight through from the moment NetGalley gave it to me and ended as I always do with books by the inimitable, spectacular Nicola Yoon: in tears. Sobbing. Clutching my chest and cursing the fates that brought me to this place. Or just really freaking grateful for the fact that she writes such loveliness. Such utter truth. So much joy and pain. I adored it and I am so sad for all of students and the other folks out there that have to wait for it to be published. Pre-order it now and be glad you did. I will, too, for my library.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Before she caught her father kissing another woman, Evie was a romance junkie. She lived for romance novels and believed that true love was out there. Now, not so much. And when she takes her romance novel collection to a Little Free Library, a strange woman urges her to take a book about dancing. Like…ok. But after that, when Evie sees people in love kiss, she gets visions. She sees how they met, a few key points in their relationship, and how it ends. When said book also leads her to try ballroom dancing, she is paired with easygoing, gorgeous X. As she falls for him, she can’t bring herself to open up, not know how it will end. The end was heartbreaking, and I really enjoyed this one. Recommended for grades 9+.

Hmmm, what to say? Once again Yoon gives us another swoon-worthy romance with some meaty real-world issues to boot. The characters are great and the story sweeps you along. There is just a bit of the paranormal going on but not too much. But watch out for that ending....

YA contemporary is simply Not My Thing. Even when I was in the target age demographic for this genre, I only read a few of them, and liked even fewer (and yes one of those was the fault in our stars, don’t @ me). So while I thought this book was very heartfelt and bittersweet, and I loved the message about loving despite our insecurities and anxieties, it just… wasn’t enough somehow? Interestingly, I read this almost at the same time as The Beach Read which had a very similar theme (and in some ways the plot too), but while that book kept me up until 4am, this didn’t. I still liked it though.

Not my favorite of Yoon's, but reading the author's note gave me an idea of where she was coming from on this one (writing through loss) that made me understand how and why this one was more different from her previous two books. Not bad! Just not my favorite.
