August’s Once Upon a Book Club YA Pick. As much as I try, I never seem to get into Yoon’s books as much as everyone else.

Gifts included: Kiss the Bookworm apron, a very large teacup, a whisk, and instructions/plaque to create your own Little Free Library in your town.

I AM A SOBBING WRECK AFTER THIS BOOK! I’m so happy to say that Nicola Yoon has yet again impressed me with another ya contemporary. Nicola Yoon has perfected the beautiful yet heartbreaking style of ya contemporary and I’m so grateful that I get to read it. This story was absolutely perfect in every way. The plot was unexpected since I didn’t realize this book had a magical element to it, but it added it so much to the story. The main character, Evie, finally understanding that with love sometimes comes heartbreak but the experience and the journey makes it’s all worth it in the end was so stunning to read. By the end of the book I realized what the author wanted me to, that the beauty of love is you never know how it’s going end but you still dive in head first hoping that it lasts forever. Like I couldn’t help but to CRY MY EYES OUT. Nicola Yoon, I beg you, never stop writing because you have a gift if I’ve ever seen one.

Made me laugh and cry and everything all at once. Even better than her other books!

I have read Nicola Yoon's "Everything Everything" and "The Sun is Also a Star", yet this has been her most touching book yet. I knew she could pull off complicated and even sad romance, but she surprised me with the depths yet again. I cried and laughed and thought about the deep meanings of life and love. Though it involves many tropes, they are well pulled off, and enjoyable to read. I stayed up late to finish this book, and read it all in one sitting.
4.5 stars!

After her parents divorce, Evie doesn't believe in love anymore. So, when she begins to see visions of a couple's future, she starts to think something strange is happening. Her friend suggests following a slight "clue" from when the visions started, which leads Evie to taking dancing lessons. Her lessons turn to being signed up for a dance competition with X, the grandson of the studio owners. As they spend more time together, feelings evolve and Evie tries to fight them because she knows relationships never last. But, will X be worth the risk?

A fun read where friendship, family, and love intertwine. Evie is figuring out who she is and also how all of those aspects fit in to her life.

this was supposed to be happy. this was supposed to be a romcom about dancing. why can't I stop crying?

Evie is stronger than me.

I will not excuse the execution, which started to fail towards the end, but I really appreciate what this book tries to promote. Reading this, I kept thinking "How is it going to resolve itself?" and I like that it did not use magic to make everything make sense.

Evie, by all accounts, was a tragic character. She had to go through her dad's cheating and divorce and having to see so many people's love endings. My heart went to her so many times and for me it even made little sense how easily she fell for X with barely thinking all that she knows.

But Evie grows and goes back and forth in a relatable way, though in some ways I wanted more deep exploration into some situations that were complicated. Towards the end, we get a more human look to everyone and that is when you understand that life is life and you have to move along with it.

Yet, there is still this power. How can you trust again if everywhere you look, you see the end? The main focus of the book was to look jnto the now, if you are enjoying yourself now or if you enjoyed yourself in the past, does this disappear when it is all gone?

No. But if you can see the end, can you truly commit yourself? Can you truly give yourself away to something with guaranteed ending date? I don't think I can and I don't think the book handled it as good as much as I would like, but I envy people that could really relate to this book.

I did not talk much about the characters and stories, but somehow I feel it is not needed as the core of the book lied elsewhere. But I will say that most characters were very realistic one way or another, even if the plot of the book is just too random to hold out.

Meine Meinung

thank you so much delacorte press for this arc!

5/5 stars!!

i know i’m a little late to the game, but this book was worth it. this story is like a calm roller coaster with a devastating twist almost. i wasn’t expecting the ending, and it’s very bitter sweet emphasis on the bitter but i really enjoyed the story. i like the realism of the story and almost magical realism as well i never really read books like that and i’m glad that this is the one that introduced me to it. the main character being black and having box braids, and having a love interest that also is black is so important to me, because you don’t really see that in contemporary romance is like ever which really needs to change. but the story has so many important meanings embedded in it and even though it did it end how i was expecting, or really wanted it too it was still a very good book. 10 out of 10, nicola yoon is at it again she’s everything i love her.
