It took a while for me to get into this book, but once I sat down and read for a while, I got into it! I love the relationship between Blue and Kellan!!!! :)

Another cute retelling

I really liked this book; it took an already good high fantasy plot and interwove the basic elements of Cinderella in a very clever way. Blue was a great protagonist, and I loved her relationship with Kellan (childhood rivals to lovers, one of my favorites). It does get a bit slow in the middle, but otherwise this is a great book.

DNF at 49%. Remarkably average (with a quick-burn romance).

it's been a couple months since i last read a book so maybe picking a fantasy one wasnt the smartest but nonetheless, this was still a great, fun, casual, light read! i enjoyed the love story and though it was like the main thing in the story there was still sm else going on it was v interesting. i think i did like the last book in this series a bit better but this one's still so solid def my second favourite from it. also i just liked the characters and just great ending i enjoyed fr

First of all, a huge thank you to edelweiss+ for providing me with an e-proof!

"The Blood Spell" is the fourth installment of the "Ravenspire" series by C.J. Redwine, but can also be read as a stand-alone.

Blue has known and loathed Prince Kellan for as long as she can remember. But when tragedy strikes and Blue loses the person dearest to her heart, whilst Kellan and his kingdom are threatened by an evil witch, they have to overcome their differences and work together. Maybe, just maybe, they will make a better team than either of them expected.

I loved the characters in this book, especially Blue. I admire her honest, caring and just personality and her growth throughout the story. The plot itself is gripping, as always, and combines the elements of the original fairytale and Redwines additions and changes rather well. The author just knows how to take widely known and beloved classics and make them her own.

I highly recommend this book to every fan of fantasy novels and/or fairytale retellings.

Another unique twist on a fairytale, and I like the liberties it took with the world building and the general structure of the narrative – not technically a stepmother, for instance, but close enough that it still resembled the original Cinderella tale. Like other Redwine books, my issue is with the romance. It's SO cheesy and hard to buy; it's actually distracting. This plot was also fairly predictable.
