What I loved:
Girl leaves Nashville to live in a random small town, the Sheriff is handsome AF, what more could you ask more in a small town romance? Lucy, Everly, Duke, and even Travis are all so lovable and that kept me engaged throughout! If you enjoyed The Edens by Devney Perry then I think you’ll enjoy this!

What I didn’t love:
Insta love is always a hard one for me, and while I enjoyed this book it wasn’t an over the top standout for me. But you bet I’ll keep reading this series to get to know more characters from Calamity, Montana!

A decent read, felt fast paced to me. Not sure if I’ll continue the series though

This book was absolutely ridiculous. Truly a fine display of complete idiocy and insta-love so fast, I got whiplash.

I'm not exaggerating when I say insta-love. The main couple meet once and that's it. A week into their official dating, they're already talking about moving in. By the end of the book, having known each other a grand total of five months, they're married with a baby on the way. It seemed absolutely ridiculous for a couple in their early thirties. Now, I've read other stories with immediate love, but the thing is nothing happens to BUILD it. They're gawking at each others butts (this happens so many times), and suddenly they're saying 'I love you.' There was no build up, or anything truly romantic that made the insta-love work (if it can ever). It's also because so much of this novel happens off page. We're told they've had a week of passionate sex, we're told they're it for each other...but never once see it.

They also both have NO personality whatsoever. There are side characters with more personality as well.

If you're looking for a good small town book, this also isn't it. We're told about the town, but we don't get to really feel and experience it. No warm or fuzzy small town feelings here. If you want that, check out The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker, or Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan, which feature great small towns with cozy vibes.

The plot line with the stalker is utter idiocy, with plot holes and total WTF moments. The reveal doesn't work at all.

Massive issues with an abused child that's allowed to stay in the home. You're telling me a cop knows a child is being abused and just let's it slide, hoping her absent father will come along and get her? Uh??? Any cop, or any of the townspeople that ALL know about what is going on would be calling CPS. Just unbelievable, for the sake of a dramatic plot.

I also had issue with the main male character, in that he was perfect. Utterly perfect. You could also tell he was written by a woman, because there were so many ridiculous instances of things men would never do. There's a scene where the female is dyeing her hair, and he asks if she needs help. She agrees saying she does, and offers him the gloves. He states he doesn't want them. We are then treated to a inner monologue of how he didn't want the gloves because he didn't want her fingertips marred with black dye...and that he relished the idea of having his hands and fingers stained with dye, because then he could remember how his love asked him for help~

I shared this passage with a few people, and they all laughed and then expressed utter disbelief.

Will I check out the other books? Maybe. The couple featured in the next book had a lot more personality than these two.

Also, I never want to see the the words 'glistening folds' ever again in my life.

I enjoyed the book, sadly, not as much as I expected. I couldn’t really connect with the characters and I didn’t see the chemistry between Lucy and Duke. Also, the synopsis is super mysterious about Jade’s identity and Duke finding out her secret, and it’s revealed, literally, not even 50% in.
I’m a little dissapointed because so far, I’ve loved every book written by Devney Perry/Willa Nash. Hopefully the next is better

This was such a fun book. It was low angst and I loved that all the drama happened outside Lucy and Duke’s relationship. Their meet cute was so perfect for a book set in Montana. I loved the secret identity trope!

Lucy and Duke had a bit of an insta love journey. They both had moments where they questioned their feelings, when Duke realized Lucy had given him a fake name and for Lucy, when Duke took the bribe to keep her name quiet. But they quickly learned their initial impressions of each other were right.

I loved how protective Duke was of Lucy and his town. He went out of his way to keep everyone safe and was a respected member of Calamity, not just because he was the sherif. Lucy found her place in Calamity. Once she decided she was done hiding she found peace in the small Montana community.

I loved the suspense at the end. I never would have guessed who the stalker was, but the ultimate villain was clear from the beginning. I loved the little side story with Travis and the way Duke cared for him like his son.

This was the perfect introduction to Calamity. There were so many secondary characters who popped in and out and it’ll be interesting to see how they all get their stories down the road.
