"read" on counterfeit audio book on spotify that has now be removed from spotify. id give it 3.5 stars but thats not an option. really lost me around the battle scenes when the humans entered the picture. onto fellowship.

definitely harder to read for me, especially as i dive back into reading and have only read modern books. otherwise liked it. can’t tell if i don’t like adventure or not, been awhile since i read something like that. fantasy is okay for me as well. loved bilbo and the ring is a really cool item.

Meine Ausgabe nutzt die Übersetzung von 1956 und das ist nicht gut, denn diese ist erstens nicht zeitgemäß und zweitens versucht sie, wie damals üblich, den Dünkel des Universitätsprofessors mit dem Stil eines Märchenonkels zu verbinden, was gründlich misslingt.
Nun aber zum Buch: Die Geschichte ist natürlich ein Klassiker und das zu Recht. Allerdings offenbaren sich auch hier Tolkiens übliche Schwächen, nämlich einige Längen in der Erzählung, multiple Enden, sowie keine besonders ausgeprägten Charaktere. Außerdem greift er hier auch gerne den Ereignissen vor, was mir missfällt. Allerdings zeigen sich auch Tolkiens Stärken in den Beschreibungen der Landschaften, den Formen altenglischer Literatur, die hier Gebrauch finden, und ganz allgemein im Worldbuilding. Ich lese die Geschichte von Bilbo Beutlin immer wieder gerne.

Para mim, O Hobbit conta a história de um homenzinho comum que se torna herói (que nada tem do herói “padrão” que conhecemos), porque decide sair da zona de conforto da sua casa e viver uma aventura.
Apenas o fato dele sair de sua casa, permitiu a ele se conhecer e descobrir o quanto de coragem tinha em si próprio!

A sua vida muda e a forma como ele enxerga a si mesmo também! Isso nos ensina a lembrar que, de vez em quando, é bom se aventurar rumo ao desconhecido. Mesmo que exista algumas dificuldades no caminho :)

Meu 1ª leitura do Tolkien e que quentinho no coração que me deu!

Was not a fan of the singing throughout the narration. The narrator did a good job but I prefer not to have music in my audiobooks. Overall the story was decent but some of it dragged. Possibly due to the older language style.
