Overall the story was wonderful. I loved Wes and Josie’s relationship - from friends to lovers to strangers to lovers.
I do wish there would have been a bit more angst. I think Josie gave in to Wes a little too quickly. They fell right back into joking and laughing together too soon for my liking.
I also wish the “betrayal” from Wes would have been a bit more grand. He wrote her a note petty much begging her to leave him and that was it. If it had been that he drove drunk and acted reckless, it would have had more of an impact.
There were many heavy topics in this book. My heart broke for what happened to Josie after the party the last day of sophomore year. My jaw was on the floor when the reveal of who the drunk driver was that killed Joe.
I think my biggest problem with this book was the writing style. It came off a bit elementary at times.

Such a good book. I loved this. It was really easy to get through but the story was dark but also light at the same time?? It’s kinda hard to explain.

I truly fell for Wes and Josie and I am a sucker for dual timelines and second chance romance. They had great chemistry and I was rooting for them all along to untangle the mess they had made in their youth.
Amazing read for a debut novel, can’t wait to see what else the author has in for us. It reminded me a bit of “Every summer after” which I absolutely loved.
I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
