The writing style and subject matter was giving me the ick. Plus there is no plot for more than 50% of the book with the characters who are late 20s/Mid 30s acting like 12 year olds … I can’t.

This is definitely 6 stars and plus, I loved this so much.
The characters are lovable and diverse in personality, background, and development. There’s characters you really love and characters you really don’t.
All types of mythical characters and great found family vibes with a main group of girls who are considered misfits amongst their peers but each individually very powerful in their own ways. I can’t wait to see them come into their power and grow.
I love the writing, and the humour. The love interests especially between Maggie and Namir is too adorable, I loved the scene when he’s ‘smelling’ her too cute.
The ending?! I cannott, I am definitely hooked and loved this book. This fantasy murder mystery was exactly what I needed. I never considered myself a murder mystery type of reader but this was brilliant and the world building was very in depth, with lots of detail but it did not get lost in it. Love it!

It was a slow start for me but it definitely picked up and the plot became interesting enough that I had to know more.
Maggie keeps her white hair hidden because it causes too much of a stir. While trying to talk her way out of a failing grade because she didn’t complete the assignment, she is thrust into a world of magic she didn’t know existed.
As she tries to navigate this new normal, she meets another outsider and those who have always known, but nobody really knows what she is. Too many are trying desperately to find out. All while typical rivalry among groups is ramped up by the fact these people have magic.
What is her background, why does it all seem to both fit and not? This is what we want to know.
