The Secret World of Maggie Grey is the kind of book you tear through in a sitting because the characters refuse to let you go. The witty banter bounces off the page, making every interaction sharp, funny, and full of spark. It’s a fast-paced read that never feels rushed, just delightfully engaging, like being dropped into a lively conversation with friends who always have the best comebacks. Lighthearted without being shallow, it’s the perfect book when you want something quick, clever, and endlessly entertaining.

- This was very entertaining and nostalgic. As a HBCU grad, I related to a lot of the campus life; unorganized financial aid, Wednesdays in the cafe, sororities and fraternities, etc.
- I enjoyed and appreciated Granger’s vision to integrate black culture into a mythical realm. I would’ve never imagined a black Triton with locs.
- Quan was the star of the show. Who doesn’t like a cussing cat who can read you for filth?
- The multiple POVs (4+) were a bit too much. I think the main three characters would’ve been fine.

in the beginning i was having such a good time reading this book. it had sooo much potential but i quickly realized that we weren’t really getting anywhere with anywhere with any of the character’s story lines.
i’m invested at this point so i’ll be reading the second book and hopefully that ties up most of the lose ends left in this one.
also i’m sorry, asha was so unlikable.
