i really wanted to like this book more than I did. honestly, the first half of it was just...no. all of the characters were strong, with their own personalities and likable traits, but it felt like a whole lotta nothingburger the first 50%. there were so many povs besides the main three girls, and i swear they did nothing but bullshit and party. there was sprinkles of lore and important information in between, but it was really hard to care about what was going on. the jumping around povs didnt help either. i really did enjoy maggie, souxie, and asha as main characters, along with isis and quan, i give this 3.75 stars only because it actually picked up and got good the last half of the book, along with the cliffhanger. i just wish we would've learned more about the three girls' pasts and who they are, it still feels up in the air, i hope most of this comes back around the next book.

I did not see the end coming...I was enjoying the book in terms of banter and jokes. I really had no idea where the book was heading until the ending got me like....WTF ?? Where did this come from ?

I am still new to fantasy books, but this one captivates me from page one. It felt like ‘when Harry Potter meets originals’ and I loved every minute of it. The only reason I didn’t give the book 5 stars was that I felt as if the plot was not clear. But the author still managed to keep my eyes glued to the pages. I grew a special place in my heart for each character. I hope that the sequel shows us more of Maggie’s new world, lets us know if the first family ever officially claims her, and it hope to see a beautiful forbidden relationship start to form between Maggie and Namir. Also, Souxie needs to put more effort into learning how to change my boy Quan back into a human.
